who we are

The Black Medical Students’ Association of Canada (BMSAC) is a national, student-run organization representing over 400 Black medical students across all Canadian medical schools. Founded in 2019, the BMSAC advocates for equitable representation, inclusion, and anti-racist transformation within medical education.

Our mission is to ensure that Black learners are supported throughout their training and that all medical graduates are equipped to deliver culturally responsive care to Black communities. Guided by the values of community, advocacy, innovation, and justice, the BMSAC serves as a hub for mentorship, professional and wellness support, and policy leadership — fostering a future where Black excellence in medicine is celebrated and sustained.
