Women’s History Month

As we reflect on Women's History Month this past October, we want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the many Black women who continue to shape the future of medicine and make transformative contributions within and beyond healthcare.

Their achievements represent more than individual milestones. They reflect the importance of representation, the power of leadership, and the lasting impact of creating spaces where future generations can see themselves reflected.

For Black women in medicine, their contributions extend across clinical practice, research, education, advocacy, and leadership. Their work challenges existing systems, advances health equity, and helps create a more inclusive future for medicine in Canada.

At BMSAC, we recognize that celebrating these contributions should not be confined to a single month. It is an ongoing commitment to acknowledging the women who have paved the way, those who are making history today, and those who will continue to shape the generations that follow.

To the Black women transforming medicine: we celebrate you, we recognize your impact, and we thank you for paving the way. 🤎
